Former Coronation Street and Casualty star who stripped naked and lay on the bar of a pub before lashing out at police in late-night drunken rampage is placed on the sex offenders' register

A former Coronation Street actress has been placed on the sex offenders’ register after stripping naked in a bar during a late-night drunken rampage.

Imogen Boorman, who also featured in Casualty, took off her clothes in front of horrified staff and customers at a gastro pub in Montrose.

The intoxicated 52-year-old mother of three clambered onto the bar, drank from the beer taps and sexually assaulted a male customer.

She also lashed out at police officers who were called to the Picture House bar and restaurant when they tried to help her get dressed.

Now Boorman, who has previous convictions for alcohol-related offences, has admitted seven charges and been placed on the sex offenders’ register ahead of a sentencing hearing next month.

She first found fame as a teenager, in the 1980s horror film Hellbound: Hellraiser II, and went on to have high-profile television roles in Coronation Street and Casualty.

But she has amassed a string of convictions and was arrested again last May after causing havoc at the Picture House when she turned up drunk at 10pm.

Boorman, of Montrose, Angus, appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court this week where fiscal depute Stuart Hamilton described how she arrived at the bar but ‘simply smiled’ and did not speak when she was asked for her order.

When the staff member on duty went to get assistance, Boorman sneaked behind the bar and began drinking from a whisky bottle.

She started spitting out mouthfuls on the pub floor and struck a customer in the face four times when he tried to intervene. Mr Hamilton said: ‘The accused then removed all of her clothing, leaving her completely naked.’

Boorman lay on the bar in the nude, used a whisky bottle to simulate a sex act and drank directly from the beer taps.

She grabbed the hands of the man she had struck and placed them on her breasts before seizing a draught gun used to dispense soft drinks and spraying him in the face.

He was sexually assaulted by her when she tried to pull down his trousers ‘in a sexual manner’.

Police were called and four officers arrived at the pub to find Boorman in a state of undress.

Two female officers attempted to get her clothes back on but she resisted them by violently flailing her arms.

A constable was also assaulted by her after she grabbed her arm at West Bell Street police station in Dundee.

Boorman admitted stealing alcohol and the value of the drinks she consumed, spilled or spat out came to £321.86.

She also admitted public indecency, behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, assault, sexual assault, resisting police and assaulting a PC.

Defence solicitor Nick Markowski said Boorman has now not drunk alcohol for ‘a number of months’ and is ‘doing well’ on a community payback order.

She has a ‘diagnosis of complex PTSD’ and is working with a rehabilitation service and a women’s criminal justice group.

Sheriff Krista Johnston deferred sentencing to April 2 for reports.

Boorman has convictions dating back 20 years, including for drink- driving and breach of the peace.

In an interview in 2018, she admitted having ‘a few scrapes with the law when my addiction to alcohol was getting the better of me’.
