giants address daniel jones rumors

Daniel Jones

There has been a lot of speculation this offseason that the New York Giants might not be all that sold on Daniel Jones as their quarterback of the future even despite signing him to a contract extension before the start of the 2023 season. But during a press conference this week, Giants general manager Joe Schoen shut that talk down.

Schoen was asked during a recent press conference if the team had “buyer’s remorse” when it came to Daniel Jones after his recent contract extension. Schoen pretty firmly disputed that claim.

“There’s stuff out there all the time that’s not true,” Schoen said according to Pro Football Talk.

Though Jones struggled early in the season before ultimately suffering a season-ending ACL injury, Schoen is confident that the veteran quarterback can still play like he did in 2022 when he led the Giants to the playoffs, saying that he still has “a lot of confidence” in Jones.

“I’m still confident in Daniel, the way he’s wired, what he showed us in 2022,” Schoen said. “I’ve still got a lot of confidence in Daniel.”

Jones is widely expected to be the team’s starting quarterback this season, so it will be interesting to see how he performs for the Giants.
