It will take a few years before we can accurately assess the 2024 NFL Draft, but it’s always fun to read people’s opinions on it in the immediate aftermath.
ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller ranked his 100 best picks from last week, considering value, scheme fit, filling a need and other factors in the evaluation process.
When Miller was done, he had named Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze, the No. 9 overall pick, as the “best” draft pick this year.
“Not only was this a great value for Chicago — a difference of six spots in ranking vs. slot inside the top 10 is huge — but it’s also smart to help your rookie quarterback with a star rookie wide receiver,” Miller explained. “It also helps that Caleb Williams (said QB) and Odunze have been working out together since the 2023 college season ended.”
As for the top five “best” picks, they are as follows
- WR Rome Odunze – Chicago Bears (No. 9 overall)
- QB Caleb Williams – Chicago Bears (No. 1 overall)
- WR Marvin Harrison Jr. – Arizona Cardinals (No. 4 overall)
- WR Xavier Worthy – Kansas City Chiefs (No. 28 overall)
- QB Jayden Daniels – Washington Commanders (No. 2 overall)
If Miller’s assessment is correct, Bears fans should be very, very excited.
