‘Pitso Mosimane will need four years to fix Kaizer Chiefs’ – Khanye

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Junior Khanye says Pitso Mosimane might take three to four years to fix the club if he’s appointed as coach.

Amakhosi were heavily linked with the former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor since he left his United Arab Emirates post in November. Mosimane however returned to the Middle East in January to break the hearts of many Khosi faithful who wanted ‘Jingles’ at the club.

The 59-year-old was given a short contract by Abha Club with a mandate to help them avoid relegation. The good news for Chiefs is that Mosimane might be available if the club decides not to extend his contract.

Khanye says Pitso Mosimane to Kaizer Chiefs might not produce results immediately.

“If you bring Pitso and give him a budget, about 12 or 15 players will go home, they are going to be sent packing. Pitso has a way of playing, he wants to attack even when he’s losing,” he said on iDiski TV.

Speaking after Amakhosi‘s 1-0 defeat to Richards Bay on Sunday, the former SA/20 player criticised Chiefs’ current players.

“You can’t win with these players, you can even bring Pep Guardiola,” Khanye added.

“The team is disjointed, even two years will not be enough. It will take three to four years for Pitso to fix this team,” he said.

“You need to check the whole setup, the whole system. Bring in players that will suit the style of play.”

Khanye said if Chiefs managed to bring in Pitso Mosimane, they should bring in club legends to assist.

“Also appoint former players who have done well, who know the culture. Let me give an example, Teko Modise at Sundowns, there’s Hlompho Kekana, TIyani Mabunda, Surprise Moriri is also there and Godfrey Sapula,” said the former Kaizer Chiefs winger.

He also mentioned that the club needed to bring back their identity and style, saying Chiefs assistant coach Dillion Sheppard was misplaced.

“Dillion is not a legend of Kaizer Chiefs, but in terms of talent, one of the best. He doesn’t understand the culture and identity of the club.”

Pitso Mosimane to Kaizer Chiefs remains unlikely but Khanye has warned fans not to expect quick fixes if it happens.
