Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly ready to make a €30m offer for Denzel Dumfries as he looks to upgrade his right-back options.
Inter Milan defender Dumfries had an impressive first season in Serie A. The 26-year-old managed five goals and five assists from 33 Serie A appearances.
Formerly of PSV Eindhoven, Ten Hag knows all about the Netherlands international. And Calciomercato claimed earlier this month that Ten Hag had earmarked Dumfries to compete with Diogo Dalot at right-back.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future looks like being away from Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old made 20 Premier League appearances last season, but he wasn’t involved in the final five games of the campaign. And it’s hard to see the former England Under-21 getting a glowing reference from former Man Utd boss Ralf Rangnick.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils plan to keep Dalot, but Ten Hag is ready to sell Wan-Bissaka. And his former club Crystal Palace are keeping tabs on the player’s situation.
Now L’Interista report that United are ready to push ahead with a deal for Dumfries, who only joined Inter last summer.
Inter want €35m for Dumfries
They suggest that the defender is the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs. But United are ready to make a formal bid of €30m for Dumfries.
That would see Inter more than double their money in 12 months on the player.
Whether or not United would wait to move on Wan-Bissaka first before landing Dumfries or vice versa is unclear.
But as of Monday, United had not made an approach for the player.
Ten Hag though is very familiar with the player having watched him develop in the Eredivisie. But he also knows that Inter will drive a hard bargain for his fellow countryman.
Romano told Givemesport: “Dumfries, he’s a player that Ten Hag knows so well, but at the same time, [it] is not something that at the moment is being negotiated between the clubs. For sure, Inter want €35m to €40m for Dumfries.”
