Erik ten Hag gives Bruno Fernandes update but reveals two injury setbacks

Bruno Fernandes is back in training ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Arsenal but Mason Mount has suffered another injury setback.
Fernandes’ form has been a bright spark in a miserable end to the season for United, scoring eight times and providing three assists in his last eight appearances.
The United captain missed Monday’s humiliating defeat at Crystal Palace having been spotted wearing a protective cast on his wrist over the weekend.
Fernandes however has now returned to training, Eril ten Hag has confirmed, along with Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay.
McTominay is another who missed the heavy defeat at Palace while Rashford has not featured since limping off in the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry.
Ten Hag believes the England international will be ready for the visit of the league leaders on Sunday, but confirmed another blow for Mount who will miss the game after a knock in training.
‘I hope I have players [back and available], yeah,’ ten Hag said. ‘But there are players that did train this morning.

‘Bruno was on the pitch and Scott McTominay was on the pitch, so there are some players returning.
‘But also I have to report that unfortunately, yesterday, Mason Mount fell out [of contention]. So he will not be available for Sunday.’
‘Rashy, of course, he trained this morning as well, and we have to see how he recovered from this. But I think it looks quite good and I hope he can tomorrow make the next training and then see if he is available for Sunday.’
Mount, who joined United from Chelsea last summer, has been limited to just eight starting appearances in an injury-hit first season.
Luke Shaw meanwhile is another who has spent much of the campaign on the sidelines having not played since February – missing over two months with a separate muscle issue earlier in the season.
Ten Hag had hoped to have him available for the final three games of the Premier League season but a setback appears to have shelved those plans with the FA Cup final against Manchester City on 25 May the new target.
‘Luke Shaw had a setback in his process as well but there is still a hope and he will fight to be available for the final.’
