Amman, June 8 (Petra) — The Erasmus+ Impact Exhibition kicked off on Thursday at the University of Jordan to highlight the significant impact of the Erasmus+ program on Jordanian institutions and universities.
Organized by the National Erasmus+ Office, President of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions (AQACHEI) Thafer Assaraira opened the exhibition by saying that the Erasmus+ program is a powerful tool for enhancing international cooperation and promoting a culture of mutual understanding and respect between countries.
He also highlighted the impact of the Erasmus+ program in bridging the gap between academia and industry, thus enhancing employment opportunities for graduates.
Patrick Lambrecht, Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Jordan, emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in vocational and technical education and improving its outcomes by benefiting from the opportunities offered by the European Union.
“This will contribute to equipping individuals with specialized professional competencies and re-evaluating professional specializations to increase the effectiveness of vocational education and training,” he added.
President of the University of Jordan Natheer Obaidat explained the impact of the Erasmus+ program on the university by granting students opportunities to change their lives by studying abroad and broadening their horizons through the International Credit Mobility program.
He highlighted how capacity-building projects in higher education enabled faculty members at the university to participate in advanced cooperative initiatives with their European counterparts, which contributed to internationalizing the university and enhancing its quality of education.
Ahmad Abu-El-Haija, Director of the National Erasmus+ Office, stated that Jordan had been one of the most active countries participating in the Erasmus+ program over the past years. It has supported 55 projects in capacity building for higher education and provided more than 6,500 students, professors, and employees with opportunities for mobility with European universities.
He added that Jordanian institutions have received funds for 20 capacity-building projects for youth and 7 projects for capacity-building in vocational education and training.
It is to be noted that more than 100 individuals from academic institutions, civil society organizations, and relevant ministries have participated in the exhibition.
