The most fun teams to manage in Football Manager 2024 and why

Check out our list of the most exciting teams to take control of in Football Manager 2024, from top clubs to fixer-uppers.

Welcome features like late-blooming wonderkids and smarter AI makes Football Manager 2024 more unpredictable and saves you time faffing around with the more mundane tasks.

That means more time for the really fun stuff, like playing games and finding young prospects for your team, like the 35 wonderkids we indentified recently.

Before that, however, you need a team, a club you can sink your teeth into. So here are some teams to manage with fun in mind, from top clubs, to fixer-uppers, to mid-sized teams, and lower league clubs.

The best teams to manage in FM24

Let’s start at the top of the football pyramid, with some of the most exciting teams with the biggest bank accounts…

Barcelona is buckets worth of fun for one reason: its young players.

The squad is full of some of the best young players in the world, with huge ability and potential, such as Pedri (20), Ansu Fati (20, on loan at Brighton), Alejandro Balde (19), Gavi (18), and Lamine Yamal (15).

Barcelona’s youth intake is also great, so more wonderkids will likely regenerate as your save progresses. That’s exactly what you need as you start with a transfer budget of only £2.1 million and £3.35 million for wages.

The young talent pool sets you up great to develop a post-Messi era and dominate world football again, albeit with meagre finances.

Napoli is another great shout, as you have some world class players at your disposal like Victor Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Stanislav Lobotka.

You’ll also have the option to sell Osimhen and/or Kvaratskhelia for ridiculous money right from the start, if you want to rebuild the team.

Serie A is also a very exciting league, as it’s very evenly matched at the top and a number of clubs can win the title each year.

Your transfer budget of £30 million and £1.44 million for wages also helps.

Brighton needs to be mentioned too, as an option for a mid-sized team that could break into the Top 6, while taking on the teams like Manchester City and Arsenal.

If you take the job you’ll have a very balanced squad that can play well with the ball in possession. You’ll have experienced players like Kaoru Mitoma and Solly March, as well as young superstars like Evan Ferguson and Julio Enisco.

Oh, and you start you tenure with a whopping £81 million transfer budget and £1.46 million for wages – happy shopping.

Celta Vigo is interesting as a weaker team with a surprising amount of money to spend.

Finishing 13th in the league last season and having sold its best player, you can take on the challenge of qualifying this Spanish team for European competitions.

The only good things about taking on the job is the £40 million transfer budget and £358,000 for wages – hence why it’s an exciting challenge.

Leicester City is the team for you if you’re looking for a fixer-upper, as the club that won the Premier League in 2016 now finds itself in the Championship.

Be warned, it’ll be a challenge to bring the club back to the top, now that talisman Jamie Vardy is 36-years-old and you’ll be greeted with a transfer budget of £0 and £1.32 million for wages.

You’ll have some decent players, though, like Patson Daka, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall,and 20-year-old Cesare Casadei, so promotion isn’t out of the question.

Wrexham is also for you if you want to delve into the lower leagues with a good team, and try to work your way up to the Premier League.

It wasn’t long ago that Wrexham was a non-league club, but it’s worked its way up the ladder to League Two thanks to your potential new owners and Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

You start of with a healthy £200,000 transfer budget and £125,000 for wages, which gives you some room to find new players in the lower leagues.

Journeyman is another popular mode we’d suggest if you have a good amount of experience with the game. Journeyman means that you start a save unemployed and go from there. It’s not a challenge for new players but it’s hugely rewarding if you take it on and manage to do well.
