As winter maintains its stronghold over North India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather forecast said that dense to very dense fog conditions for the next two days, with a subsequent decrease in intensity. The region is also bracing for cold day to severe cold day conditions during this period, particularly in Bihar and north Madhya Pradesh.
Cold wave conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Punjab and Haryana during January 21-24, and in north Madhya Pradesh today and tomorrow, north Rajasthan on January 22-23.

Dense fog forecast
The IMD anticipates the persistence of dense to very dense fog conditions in various parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh during the upcoming nights and mornings, extending into the next two days.
Additionally, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are expected to experience dense fog during the night and morning hours, with isolated pockets affected for the following four days. North Rajasthan is likely to witness dense fog in isolated pockets for a duration of two days.

Cold day to severe cold day conditions
The cold weather is expected to continue, with severe cold day conditions in many parts of Uttar Pradesh on January 21. Punjab and Haryana will also experience cold day conditions on January 21, with isolated pockets under similar conditions on January 22. In north Madhya Pradesh and north Rajasthan, cold day to severe cold day conditions are projected for today, with isolated pockets affected on January 23. Uttarakhand is likely to witness cold day to severe cold day conditions today.
The cold wave is expected to prevail over Bihar and north Madhya Pradesh today and expand to more parts of North India during January 21-22. Additionally, isolated pockets in Punjab and Haryana are likely to experience cold wave conditions from January 21-24, with the possibility of severe cold wave conditions on January 21 and 22.
Temperature dip
A fall in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C is expected over many parts of Central India during the next two days, with no significant change thereafter. No significant change in minimum temperatures is anticipated over many parts of Northwest India during the next two days, followed by a subsequent fall by 2-3°C.
