Employer organizations VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland are concerned about the increasing number of corona infections and the threat of new corona measures that could affect entrepreneurs and employees. “It was, is and remains more important than ever to stay at home in case of complaints and to work from home where possible,” the lobby associations for the Dutch business community said.
Also, getting tested and observing other basic rules such as washing hands and coughing into elbows is now very important, according to them. “The number of infections is increasing,” says a spokesperson for VNO-NCW. “Although this is mainly a strong consequence of private contacts and things like visitors, it does not alter the fact that it sometimes also happens in companies.”
Since September 25, the government’s advice has been to work from home if possible and to work in the office if necessary, which is a relaxation of the work from home advice that was used before. Employers currently have quite a bit of freedom to make a suitable division for their company between work on location and at home.
It is not yet clear whether this will change again in the near future. Major employers see no reason to adjust their working from home policy in the increasing number of corona infections, according to a call round by the ANP on Wednesday. Companies seem to be mainly waiting to see whether the government will tighten up guidelines for the workplace again after Tuesday’s upcoming corona press conference.
VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland have the impression that many affiliated companies still work from home. But for about half of the employees working from home would not be an option.
