New Delhi: As many as 26 Opposition parties came together to form an alliance — INDIA Bloc– against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central government ahead of the crucial General elections to be held this year and while the agenda of the bloc is clear, their pick for the prime ministerial post remains unclear. Who is the face of the Opposition alliance against Prime Minister Narendra Modi – Rahul Gandhi was asked today during a press conference in Assam, where he is holding the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

“The face is India, the alliance,” Rahul Gandhi said when asked BJP has been potraying Modi as their face, who is face of India Alliance.

“It is INDIA which is the face against RSS and PM, what happen after election – INDIA will decide,” Gandhi added.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told DGP to file an FIR againt Rahul Gandhi today. Reacting to the same, Gandhi termed the Assam CM as “one of the most corrupt CMs in the country.”

“The BJP men are holding their party flag in one hand while waving and smiling at me. I’m blowing kisses to them, and they’re waving at me. Mr. Himanta seems to think it’s a protest. There’s no protest taking place there. There is a clear problem in the state. The Assam CM is one of the most corrupt CMs in the country. Wherever I move around the state, everyone complains about unemployment, inflation, corruption, and farmers’ struggles. That is the situation, and we are raising these issues,” he said.

Further, he added, “The idea that if you have money and power, you can do anything you want and buy anything you want. The idea that the culture of Assam, the language of Assam, and the tradition of Assam are secondary and should bow down in front of the culture and tradition of Nagpur. This is being felt by the people of Assam. It seems to you that you have a CM who is running Assam, but it is being run from Delhi. If he says one thing that Delhi doesn’t like, we know what will happen to him. This is not the voice of the Assamese people.”

Gandhi has been locked in conflict with the Assam Chief Minister since the Congress entered Assam with the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam. The Assam Chief Minister has repeatedly accused Gandhi of provoking people while Gandhi has claimed that the Congress rally is facing difficulties on account of the administration.
