Ein Mann ist für die Hälfte aller Beschwerden verantwortlich

In Australien wurden dem Senat für eine Untersuchung die Zahlen der Fluglärmbeschwerden im Jahr 2023 vorgelegt. Daraus geht hervor, dass die Hälfte davon von einer einzigen Person stammte.

Im vergangenen Jahr gingen in Australien insgesamt 51’589 Beschwerden wegen Fluglärm ein, was dem Doppelten vom Vorjahr entspricht. Laut Daten von Airservices Australia, die dem «Business Insider» vorliegen, beschwerte sich eine einzige nicht identifizierte Person insgesamt 20’716 Mal bei den Behörden.

Zum Vergleich: Der zweitfleissigste Beschwerdeführer aus der Nähe von Brisbane reichte 4’071 Beschwerden ein. Die Zahlen wurden einer Senatsuntersuchung zur Verfügung gestellt, die sich mit den Auswirkungen von Fluglärm auf Städte und regionale Zentren befasst.

Gesundheitsschädigende Auswirkungen

Laut der britischen Zivilluftfahrtbehörde (Civil Aviation Authority) kann Lärm von Flugzeugen die Gesundheit und das Wohlbefinden einer Person schädigen.

Neben allgemeiner Belästigung weisen Untersuchungen gemäss dem «Business Insider» darauf hin, dass Fluglärm die schulische Leistung von Kindern beeinträchtigen, die Schlafqualität stören und sogar das Risiko für Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen erhöhen kann, so die CAA.

Eine Untersuchung über einen spezifischen Flughafen in den USA, den Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, ergab, dass lauter Fluglärm auch finanzielle Auswirkungen auf die Anwohner hat, aufgrund von Produktivitätsverlusten und dem Bedarf an medizinischer Behandlung.

Die Studie schätzte, dass die kombinierten medizinischen Kosten für die in der Nähe des Flughafens lebenden Menschen über 30 Jahre 800 Millionen Dollar betragen würden.
