Eclipse Solar Anular 2024: ¿Cuándo es y dónde se verá?

El pasado 8 de abril, el territorio mexicano fue testigo de un eclipse solar total que oscureció brevemente el cielo. Después de este evento astronómico, una nueva maravilla está por ocurrir: un eclipse solar anular, visible en ciertas regiones de Sudamérica.

¿Cuándo y dónde ocurrirá el Eclipse Anular?

El próximo eclipse solar anular de 2024 está programado para el miércoles 2 de octubre y será visible en el sur de Sudamérica. De acuerdo con el sitio de Time and Date, faltan 172 días para que el Sol sea parcialmente cubierto por la Luna, creando un impresionante espectáculo celestial.

Este fenómeno astronómico será presenciado por alrededor de 175 mil personas, lo que equivale al 0.002% de la población mundial. La última vez que este evento ocurrió fue el 14 de octubre, visible en el sur de México.

Argentina y Chile serán los países sudamericanos privilegiados para observar el eclipse en su totalidad, según fuentes de Time and Date. En Argentina, el evento durará aproximadamente 10 minutos y 38 segundos, mientras que en Chile se estima que el fenómeno persistirá en el cielo durante una hora y 23 minutos.

¿Qué es un eclipse anular?

Según National Geographic un eclipse solar anular se produce cuando la Luna está más distante de la Tierra y parece “más pequeña”, lo que impide que cubra completamente la superficie del Sol. Este fenómeno crea un anillo de luz solar alrededor de la Luna, caracterizando así el eclipse solar anular.

Según la NASA, estos eclipses suelen ser los más prolongados, con el anillo solar visible durante más de diez minutos en algunos casos. En contraste, en México solo se podrá observar un eclipse solar parcial, según los expertos de Time and Date.
