He took to X and said that this contract would allow him to “retire in an Eagles jersey.”
The extension will keep Brown with the Eagles through 2029, at which point he will be 32. If he continues at his current pace, Brown could get another bite of the money apple. He could also be putting a feather on what could be a Hall of Fame career.
Since being acquired during the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Brown has been nothing short of spectacular.
In his first season, he rewrote the team’s single-season yardage record with 1,496 yards, to go along with 11 touchdowns. His performance helped lead the Eagles to Super Bowl LVII.
The record for most yards in a season had stood since 1983 when Mike Quick, currently the team’s radio analyst on game days, had 1,409.
Last year, Brown set the franchise record for most catches by a receiver in a single season with 106 for 1,456 yards. Tight end Zach Ertz has the record with 116 receptions set in 2018.
Brown’s extension will make him the highest-paid receiver in NFL history and is worth $96 million. It will kick in after the 2026 season ends. He had signed a four-year deal with the Eagles after general manager Howie Roseman engineered a trade with the Tennessee Titans, a deal that ultimately helped get then-Titans-GM Jon Robinson fired.
Brown’s running mate, DeVonta Smith, got a contract extension on April 15, and talked about his relationship with Brown.
He said they talk everyday on the phone and both root for each other to do well.
