Eagles vs. 49ers final score, highlights: San Francisco drubs Philadelphia

Revenge is a dish best served whiz wit.

The 49ers were handed a hard-to-stomach loss in last season’s NFC championship game, when Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson both dealt with injuries in a 31-7 drubbing. San Fran returned the favor in Week 13, downing the Eagles 42-19.

After a sluggish first quarter, the 49ers kicked their offense into gear and didn’t look back. They finished the game with six straight touchdown drives, a show of absolute domination from Kyle Shanahan’s offensive attack.

It was a dreadful loss for the NFC East-leading Eagles, but no moment was scarier than when Jalen Hurts briefly exited the game while he was evaluated for a concussion. He would later return to the field, as Eagles fans breathed a collective sigh of relief for the passer. He would finish the matchup 26-of-45 passing for 298 yards and a touchdown. He was also the Eagles’ leading rusher, with seven carries for 20 yards and a touchdown.

Next up: The Eagles fly to Jerry World to take on the Cowboys in a “Sunday Night Football” matchup. The Week 13 loss to the 49ers will either wake the Eagles up, or shellshock them ahead of the divisional matchup. The 49ers head back home to take on the Seahawks in Week 14, as their ultimate search for gold — well, sterling silver — continues.

End of fourth quarter: 49ers put nail in the coffin

The Eagles had a glimpse of life with a Jalen Hurts-to-DeVonta Smith touchdown in the fourth quarter, but the 49ers continued their dominance with two scores of their own in the period.

Brock Purdy threw two touchdowns, one to Jauan Jennings and a monster to Deebo Samuel to close out the game 42-19.

Samuel finished the day with four catches for 116 receiving yards and three total touchdowns.

Hurts was injured at the end of the third quarter and went to the locker room to be evaluated for  a concussion at the start of the fourth. Marcus Mariota filled in for a handful of plays, but Hurts returned midway through the quarter. — Victoria Hernandez

PHILADELPHIA — Deebo Samuel has backed up all of his trash talk and then some.

49ers pull away on Jauan Jennings touchdown

The 49ers scored their fifth touchdown of the day with an 18-yard touchdown from Brock Purdy to Jauan Jennings.

On third-and-five, Purdy took the snap and threw to his left where he found the receiver. Jennings slipped out of a tackle attempt by Eli Ricks and powered downfield for the score.

Christian McCaffrey had 27 yards at the start of the drive to help the 49ers get down the field.

Jalen Hurts injury update: QB being evaluated for concussion

As the fourth quarter began, Jalen Hurts ran back toward the locker room area as the 49ers were driving down the field.

If Hurts is unable to return, Eagles backup Marcus Mariota would take over.

The Eagles announced that Hurts isbeingevaluated for a concussion.

End of third quarter: 49ers 28, Eagles 13

The Eagles are running out of time, and the 49ers are well in command.

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni was disappointed he decided to punt on his last drive, giving the ball back to the 49ers, who have scored on four straight possessions.

This game has been one-sided as San Francisco has been on a 28-7 run since falling behind 6-0 in the first quarter. And they could be primed for more points when the fourth quarter begins. — Safid Deen

Deebo Scores again to lengthen 49ers lead

The 49ers answered the Eagles right back with a touchdown of their own when Brock Purdy found Deebo Samuel at the Philadelphia 42-yardline. The receiver broke a tackle upon grabbing the catch and then sprinted downfield. Darius Slay attempted to tackle him at the 8-yardline, but Samuel powered past him into the end zone for a 48-yard score.

Jalen Carter was called for unnecessary roughness on the extra point attempt and Jake Moody made the kick.

The touchdown capped off an 8-play, 77-yard drive and furthered the 49ers lead to 28-13. — Victoria Hernandez

Who is Dom DiSandro?

DiSandro’s official title is “chief security officer” for the Eagles.

DiSandro, whose title also includes “senior adviser to the general manager,” has worked for the Eagles since 1999 and “oversees all safety and security matters for players, coaches, and executives” according to the team. — Chris Bumbaca

Jalen Hurts scores on Tush Push

The Eagles scored their first points of the third quarter with a rushing touchdown from Jalen Hurts.

From the two-yard line, Philadelphia opted for the Tush Push twice and powered their quarterback into the end zone. It’s Hurts’ 12th rushing touchdown of the season.

After the score, San Francisco cornerback Charvarius Ward and Philadelphia receiver AJ Brown got into a shoving match, which was broken up.

The 13-play, 56-yard drive featured a tiff between 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw and Eagles head of security Dom DiSandro that led to the ejections of both.

Dre Greenlaw ejected after tiff with Eagles security officer

PHILADELPHIA — The bad blood between these Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers has been brewing and well-documented. But the negative feelings toward one another took a turn for the worst during the game.

Niners linebacker Dre Greenlaw was ejected Eagles chief security officer Dom DiSandro was also asked to leave following an altercation on the Eagles sideline during the third quarter. Greenlaw had slammed Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith to the ground after Smith stepped out of bounds.

Officials threw a flag for the tardy physicality but the situation escalated when DiSandro separated Smith and Greenlaw. The refs attempted to defuse the situation, but DiSandros shoved Greenlaw and the linebacker’s left hand made contact with DiSandro’s face.

Greenlaw was disqualified and, after some protesting, DiSandro was forced to leave the field. Eagles fans sent him off with a hearty ovation.

The Eagles and Niners have engaged in a public beef for the better part of the last year, dating back to the 2022 NFC Championship Game. Quarterback Brock Purdy was knocked out in the first quarter, and the Eagles went on to cruise to a 31-7 victory, with Niners players downplaying the outcome since. — Chris Bumbaca

Deebo Samuel opens second-half scoring with TD

San Francisco opened the third quarter with a 12-yard touchdown from Deebo Samuel.

On first-and-10, Brock Purdy took the snap from under center, faked the handoff to running back

Elijah Mitchell and then gave the ball to Samuel. The receiver then ran all the way to his right, powered up the field along the sideline and tiptoed into the end zone. George Kittle blocked two defenders to help pave the way.

The score capped off a nine-play, 75-yard drive that featured a 33-yard catch by Christian McCaffrey.

The 49ers have scored unanswered on three straight drives and are up 21-6.

Halftime: 49ers pull ahead, lead Eagles at the break

It was a tale of two quarters during the Eagles-49ers Sunday afternoon matchup.

It was all Eagles in the first quarter, though Philly had to settle for a pair of short field goals to take the lead. The 49ers answered in a big way in the second half, blanketing Eagles receivers and forcing Jalen Hurts into holding the ball and taking some sacks.

The 49ers offense should hope that Brandon Aiyuk (four catches, 36 yards, a touchdown) continues to prove to be an X-factor after the half. — Joe Rivera

Christian McCaffrey touchdown: 49ers 14, Eagles 6

If the first quarter went Philly’s way, the second quarter has certainly gone in the other direction.

Christian McCaffrey scored a 2-yard touchdown run with 38 seconds left in the first half to help the 49ers take a 14-6 lead.

49ers take lead on questionable Brandon Aiyuk catch

PHILADELPHIA — The genius of Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan as a play-designer was on full display.

With the Niners taking their first snap of the game from Philadelphia territory halfway through the second quarter, Shanahan dialed up a play that featured one of his many playmakers. Tight end George Kittle ran across the formation after the snap in front of Brock Purdy and chip-blocked Eagles edge rusher Haason Reddick. With Reddick adjusting his beeline for Purdy, Kittle turned and caught a short dump-off pass from Purdy with nothing but grass in front of him.

Kittle went 32 yards down to the Philadelphia 10 and the Niners scored three plays later on another nifty Shanahan scheme, this time a play-action pass from Purdy to Brandon Aiyuk in the back of the end zone. Philadelphia fans were hoping that a replay review would overturn the call, but the touchdown catch was upheld.

End of first quarter: Eagles dominate 49ers

In the first quarter, the Eagles offense outperformed the 49ers 124 yards to -6, but they are only up 6-0.

Jalen Hurts is 11-of-16 for 120 yards, 63 of those to AJ Brown, while Brock Purdy has yet to make a completion.

But San Francisco’s defense has kept Philadelphia out of the end zone and forced Jake Elliott to notch two field goals. — Victoria Hernandez

Eagles’ Lane Johnson getting the better of 49ers’ Nick Bosa

PHILADELPHIA — Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson, a two-time All-Pro, missed last week’s overtime victory against the Buffalo Bills with a groin injury. His assignment in his first game back? Blocking Niners defensive end Nick Bosa, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

Thus far, though, Johnson has been standing Bosa up on every pass rush. On a play Hurts ended up essentially going down on his own, Johnson protected his quarterback solo for several seconds. Bosa has utilized rips, swims and bull rush tactics to try and best Johnson. Through the first quarter, he hasn’t had much success. — Chris Bumbaca

Eagles jump out to 6-0 lead, stifling 49ers offense

Jalen Hurts had all the time in the world. He was even directing his receivers to run toward the left side of the end zone. But Hurts took two steps to his right, and simply slipped.

The Eagles were stymied by the slick turf monster.

Philadelphia settled with Jake Elliott’s second field goal of the game, this one from 39 yards.

Eagles strike first following A.J. Brown big play

PHILADELPHIA — A.J. Brown took a slant route 38 yards on the first third down of the game the Eagles faced, and Philadelphia entered the red zone before settling for a field goal.

Jake Elliott made his 26-yard field goal for the first score of the game and the Eagles led 3-0 with 9:51 left in the first quarter.

Since Week 5, the Eagles lead the NFL in red zone offense (70%). They’d been 10 of 10 since Week 9 prior to the Niners’ stand. — Chris Bumbaca

The track may be wet, but it may not stay that way.

It’ll be a cold, dreary night in Philadelphia, and despite rain storms soaking the East Coast, there’s no more rain in the forecast for the NFC championship game. Temperatures are expected to dip into the 40s with overcast skies and a thick fog settling on the field. — Joe Rivera
