Eagles trade proposal sees Philly make aggressive jump in 2023 NFL Draft

eagles trade proposal sees philly make aggressive jump in 2023 nfl draft

Howie Roseman

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has done a wonderful job turning around the roster in a short period of time. It was only two seasons ago that Philadelphia went 4-11-1 and now this season they played in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs. While they fell short of taking home the Lombardi Trophy, the Eagles are certainly on the right path.

One of the most important parts of their turnaround has been the work Roseman has done in the NFL Draft. He has masterfully moved up and down the board, addressing need after need while adding future draft capital.

In the 2022 NFL Draft, the team came away with run-stuffing defensive tackle Jordan Davis and wide receiver A.J. Brown in a trade with the Tennessee Titans. This year, the Eagles will have a chance to make some noise once again.

Philadelphia has multiple first-round picks in the 2023 NFL Draft; their own, No. 30 and the No. 10 overall pick courtesy of the New Orleans Saints. That gives the ammunition to get aggressive and move up the board should the opportunity present itself.

With such a strong roster, it would not be surprising to see the Eagles look to make a jump up the board for a specific player. With quarterbacks expected to dominate the top of the draft board, Philadelphia could find a good trade partner in the Seattle Seahawks.

A suggested trade to shake up the first round would be the Eagles trading both of their first-round picks to the Seahawks in exchange for the No. 5 overall pick. That would put Philadelphia in a prime position to select one of the top defenders available in this year’s draft, whether it be Will Anderson of Alabama or Jalen Carter of Georgia.

From Seattle’s perspective, they would have the chance to add multiple impact players to their roster. Despite making the playoffs this past season, there are a few holes to fill on their roster as their defense needs some upgrades.

That trade would give the Seahawks six selections in the first 83 of the 2023 NFL Draft, providing them a ton of flexibility. They would be able to jump up the board should a prospect fall that they like or go after an established veteran that could be available on the trade market as well.
