Eagles Take First Steps to Rebuilding 'Splintered' Locker Room
A fractured locker room, a problem that would “splinter any group,” and a coaching overhaul.
Since their historic collapse to end the 2023 season, the Philadelphia Eagles have had to answer questions regarding the locker room leadership inside the organization, and if last season’s problems were truly a sign of worse things to come.

After their 32-9 debacle of a playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, though, the Eagles have gotten back to the basics, and rookie camp has shown the first inkling of a locker room reset for the organization.
As top rookies like Cooper DeJean, and Will Shipley took the field for the first time at the Novacare Complex, the Eagles’ rookies were joined by veteran A.J. Brown and Jordan Mailata.
Brown’s exploits off the field left some media members troubled over his long-term future with the team, while Mailata has seemingly been open to taking more of a leadership role with Jason Kelce’s retirement.
With the two stars on the offensive already showing out and taking more of a leadership role in the organization, it’s a sign that the Eagles’ 2023 collapse may be a distant memory. It’s also a sign that the message from the coaching staff, once thought to be stale, has reinvigorated some of the team’s better players.
Winning is the only thing that will truly quell those concerns, but the first steps made to rebuilding a potentially “fractured” locker room is currently under way.
