Eagles Hosting Former Record-Breaking WR For Tryout
The Philadelphia Eagles are bringing on one of the fastest men in NFL history for training camp later this offseason.
Per reports from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Eagles are hosting former first-round receiver John Ross on a tryout basis at the team’s rookie camp.

Ross set a new 40-yard dash record at the 2017 NFL Combine. The Cincinnati Bengals selected him No. 9 overall, but he was off the team after four disappointing seasons.
He played one year with the New York Giants in 2021 before announcing his retirement last season.
“Former Bengals and Giants WR John Ross, whose 4.22 40-yard dash was the Combine record until Xavier Worthy broke it this year, will participate in the Eagles’ rookie camp this week on a tryout basis, sources say. Ross had retired last year but is now exploring a comeback,” Garafolo tweeted.
The Eagles could use some help and depth at receiver behind DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown. Ross will need to prove himself to the coaching staff first, but certainly has the speed that could at the very least land him a role on the depth chart.
In his NFL career, Ross has posted 62 catches for 957 yards and 11 touchdowns. Seven of those scores came with the Bengals in 2018.
