Eagles Free Agent RB Finds New Home
The Philadelphia Eagles’ running back room will look much different next season after the signing of Saquon Barkley and the free-agent departures of D’Andre Swift and Boston Scott.
But Eagles fans might’ve forgotten about one notable name that is now officially headed elsewhere after receiving little action during his only season in Philadelphia.

Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Eagles free-agent running back Rashaad Penny will sign with the Carolina Panthers, his third team in three seasons. He’ll now join a backfield already consisting of former Eagles starter, Miles Sanders.
“Source: Running back Rashaad Penny plans to sign with the Panthers,” Fowler tweeted. “Former first-round pick reunites with head coach Dave Canales from their Seattle days. Signing likely happening after rookie minicamp.”
Penny, 28, signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Eagles last offseason after coming off a broken fibula in 2022 with the Seattle Seahawks. But instead of a comeback tour, he fell deep on the depth chart behind Swift, Kenny Gainwell and Scott.
He finished the season having appeared in just three games while posting 11 carries for 33 yards and no touchdowns to go along with one catch for five yards.
The oft-injured Penny, who had a career year with the Seahawks in 2021, will now look to recapture some of that magic for a Panthers team that desperately needs it headed into the 2024 season.
