A drunk 38-year-old man on an electric scooter drove into a person in Oslo this summer. He has now been sentenced to conditional imprisonment, and he has been fined.
According to witnesses, the intoxicated 38-year-old was driving in a zigzag fashion between cars and pedestrians before finally hitting a person who was sitting still and looking at his mobile phone. The injured man had to go to the emergency room with injuries to one leg and an arm.
The man told the Oslo District Court that he drank wine but that he felt fit to drive an electric scooter, according to the newspaper Vårt Oslo.
In court, the 38-year-old confessed and admitted that he now understands that he was too drunk to drive an electric scooter.
The man has been sentenced to 15 days probation for negligent driving and a fine of NOK 20,000. He must also pay just over NOK 1,000 in compensation to the man who was hit, in addition to NOK 2,000 in legal costs.
