Sydney Trains is set to overhaul station announcements to include more colloquial language.
Terms such as ‘this train terminates here’ and people being told to ‘alight’ from the carriage are being changed due to concerns the words are too difficult.

Commuters now will instead be told to ‘leave’ or ‘get off’ the train at the platform.
Sky News host Caleb Bond has reacted to the change made by Sydney Trains.
“Seriously, are people so dumb that they can not understand what ‘terminates here’ means or ‘alight from the train’,” Mr Bond said.
“We’re dumbing down the world.”
