When it comes to scouring the Dublin property market, your budget alone doesn’t always mean very much – it all depends on where in the city and county you’re searching, and for what type of property.
This week, we’re looking for properties under €700k and – as usual – what’s on offer differs wildly depending on the area.
47 Merrion Court, Ailesbury Road, Ballsbridge
Dublin addresses don’t get much more prestigious than Ailesbury Road, Dublin 4. Merrion Court is a leafy apartment complex set behind gates and mature trees, at the Sandymount end of the road, close to Sydney Parade DART station.
Convenience, then, is a selling point, as is proximity to Sandymount Strand and both Donnybrook and Ballsbridge villages.
The apartment is nicely finished with a beautiful modern bathroom, a pleasant living/dining/kitchen area and a balcony overlooking the landscaped gardens. Spacious, however, it is not.
47 Arnott Street, South Circular Road, Portobello
2-bed terraced house
This is a deceptively large city centre home spread across three floors – a bedroom and bathroom on the lower floor, an ultra-modern, open plan living room and kitchen on the ground floor, a bright dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows and access to the terrace on the mezzanine above, and finally the master bedroom with en suite bathroom, and access to the roof terrace on the top floor.
The property is in the heart of the buzzy Portobello area, with St Stephen’s Green a 10-minute walk in one direction and the Grand Canal about 10 minutes in another.
25 St Brigid’s Road Lower, Drumcondra
4-bed terraced house
There’s a lot more space available in this fine family home in Drumcondra. The attractive mid-terrace has been extended to the rear, and now offers a gorgeous, bright sitting room behind the kitchen, with direct access to the back garden via the patio doors.
There’s also a cosy living room at the front of the house and a utility toom – great for families – while upstairs you have four bedrooms (one master en-suite) split over two levels, and even a walk-in wardrobe.
All this in a lovely, quiet residential location a short stroll from Drumcondra station, lots of bus routes and plenty of cafés and restaurants.
Slieve Donard, Stephenstown, Balbriggan
5-bed detached house
As ever, if it’s maximum space you’re after in Dublin, your best bet is to head to the rural north of the county.
On the outskirts of Balbriggan – and just off the M1 – you’ll find this magnificent, secluded detached house, set in around an acre of land. There’s an imposing entrance gate, a long driveway and mature greenery in abundance.
Inside, the house is full of old-world grandeur, with period features galore as well as a large, modern kitchen/diner and bathrooms.Internet Explorer Channel Network
