I don't really think celebrities have to spend much of their time in the winter dredging through the snow like the rest of us, but apparently when they do, they like to do it while wearing bikinis. Just last week Kendall Jenner quite possibly pulled off the sexiest yeti look of all time in a simple strappy black bikini and a pair of Miu Miu's famous knee-high faux fur boots. Dua Lipa also stripped down to a matching bra and undies set for an Instagram photo shoot featuring the very fuzzy (and now sold-out) GCDS x Hello Kitty Moon Boots. Why so many celebrities have opted to wear practical snowshoes with tiny bikinis is a mystery we're still investigating, but I'll go ahead and blame Miu Miu's highly discussed FW21 show.
There, models walked down a ski slope runway wearing crocheted scarfs tucked into tiny knit bras with larger than life furry boots. Personally, I can't stop thinking about all the contradictions, which I find quite sexy in the most unexpected, barely-makes-sense way. The Apres-Ski look took social media by storm, and now Moon Boots, famously known for being practical in inclement weather, are showing up everywhere but on the slopes. If you haven't come across a pair, that's likely because they keep selling out, thanks to everyone on TikTok and Instagram doing their best Dua Lipa inspired #ootd on the streets of New York.
The boots were popular back in the early 2000s and naturally, Paris Hilton was a superfan, which means they fit in perfectly with the Y2K aesthetic that's skyrocketed in popularity. Essentially, they'll match perfectly with baggy JNCO jeans, bedazzled Cavalli button-downs, and vintage Blumarine cardigans. And while bikinis and Moon Boots are very much a fun editorial moment, fashion girls are incorporating the trending shoe into everyday looks that don't cause frostbite, too.
Most recently, Dua Lipa styled a red pair of Moon Boots with loose white jeans and a Gap x Yeezy blue puffer coat. A quick search on TikTok will display thousands of videos with millions of views on how to style the boot with everything from tights and a mini-skirt to a larger-than-life sweatshirt. Say what you will about the trend, but these boots have range and can withstand the elements, which is pretty rare for an 'It' shoe. And regardless of what celebrities say, you can definitely just ditch the bikini and wear a puffer coat instead.
