Don't be swayed by 'outside influence', Vigneswaran tells Indian voters

HULU SELANGOR: Indian voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu should vote wisely and not be swayed by “outside influence”, says MIC president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran.

He said some political leaders will make allegations without thinking about the welfare of locals.

“In the end, locals will be the ones who will suffer from the defeat (of the unity government candidate),” said Vigneswaran after a MIC event at the Sri Muneeswarar temple near Pekan Kuala Kubu Baru on Saturday (May 4).

“Let’s not listen to the campaign by a former DAP leader, who condemned the party after not being chosen as an election candidate,” he said.

He said that it is important to ensure a victory for Pakatan Harapan candidate Pang Sock Tao, as an elected representative from the ruling government would ensure that any issues are solved promptly.

Vigneswaran said the Indian community should give the government a chance to solve issues over the next three years.

“If issues are still not solved, then you are free to decide (again),” he said.

Former Penang deputy chief minister P. Ramasamy is currently leading the United for the Rights of Malaysians party (Urimai) and had urged Indian voters to snub Pakatan in the KKB by-election.

In August last year, Ramasamy left DAP after he was not named as a candidate in the Penang state polls in 2023.

The KKB polls will see a four-cornered fight between Pakatan’s Pang, Perikatan Nasional’s Khairul Azhari Saut, Parti Rakyat Malaysia Hafizah Zainudin, and Independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.
