Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, lead characters and creators of the original The Office, will also be involved in production.
Like the original fan-favourite the series will be a mockumentary, this time about a failing newspaper in Mid-Western America.
‘The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters,’ the logline for the series reads.

The series, which is still unnamed, is set to begin filming in July, and will air on the Peacock streaming service.
The US Office starred Steve Carrell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Mindy Kaling and BJ Novak and achieved huge success, running from 2005 to 2013, winning five Emmys.
Over a decade since its final episode, it is unclear whether any of the original cast will be making a return.
