What is suspected to be a human bone has been found washed up on a popular Perth beach, sparking a police investigation.
WA Police were called to City Beach at about 12.40pm on Friday after Di Hepburn made the discovery while walking her dog.
She said her dog went straight to the bone, which was about 20m from the shoreline.
“I called her off, confirmed with a couple of surfie guys on the beach,” she told the ABC.
Ms Hepburn said the bone looked and felt like it was a human’s, and said her husband, who had previously worked in forensics, agreed with her.

“I moved it up the beach while I was on the phone to police, shifted it out of the water and while I was on the phone, the rangers came down.
“They were told (further) up the beach by a surfie guy that he had seen a bone on the beach.
“Most of the people were too busy walking and surfing to worry about the bone.”
When WA Police arrived at the scene, they cordoned off an area and searched the remainder of the beach.
Officers have collected the bone — which is suspected to part of a leg — as evidence and further forensic tests will be conducted to try determine where it came from and who it may belong to.
