Timing, track

  • Snow is expected to start falling tonight from west to east.
  • The bulk of the storm arrives between 11 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday.
  • The snow could be heavy at times.
  • Snow will taper from west to east between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. Saturday.
  • Unlike the last storm, the snow from this one will be fluffy and light.

How much snow will we get?

  • Generally along and south of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, snow totals will range from 3 to 6 inches. That’s where strong upper level winds will enhance snowfall rates.
  • North of the turnpike, look for 1 to 3 inches of snow.

Winds will pick up again behind the departing storm. Expect sustained winds 10 to 20 mph, causing blowing and drifting snow in rural areas. Isolated snow showers are possible in the afternoon, with highs in the mid-30s. With the breeze, it will feel like the 20s.

The WGAL News 8 Storm Team has designated Friday night as an Alert Period. Saturday is an Impact Day.
