Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty
The Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty has congratulated his wife Cat Deeley on her new role as a lead presenter on This Morning with a sweet Instagram post.
TV presenter and actress Cat and co-host Ben Shephard were recently announced as the new full-time presenters of the show, following the departure of former This Morning stalwarts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
The duo have both stepped in sporadically to host the show in the past, and were announced as the new permanent hosts this week in an update that has been hotly anticipated since Holly’s departure in October of 2023.
Cat’s husband is none other than comedian and TV and radio presenter Patrick Kielty, who became the new host of The Late Late Show last year following the departure of Ryan Tubridy.
Patrick took to social media to express congratulations to his wife.
He posted a gorgeous series of videos and photos of his wife, exclaiming that he was never a “morning person” until her.
The video was focused on showcasing Cat’s beautiful, beaming smile and the fun that the couple have together, set to the track Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles.
“I didn’t know what a morning person actually was until I met this woman. She gets up every day with a smile on her face. A 5.30am, whistling in the shower, smile on her face,” he wrote.
“Then downs two coffees, and gives you the look. The ‘what the f*€K’s wrong with you, let’s do this’ look. It’s not a pretend smile.
“And it’s not just some mornings. It’s every morning. Which is bloody difficult cos she’s married to me.
“I should also mention she likes a chat. To anyone. About anything. Anywhere. If there’s anyone in the world made for a show called @thismorning, it’s this human.
“Strap yourself in @benshephardofficial And welcome to my world. We couldn’t be prouder of you @catdeeley Go get ‘em Mama.”
Cat has been in the TV world for decades, with one of her initial roles being a host for Hitlist UK alongside Edith Bowman, then becoming part of SMTV Live in 1998 with Ant & Dec, and taking on the role of presenter for Fame Academy.
This last endeavour held significant importance for Cat, as it was where she crossed paths with her future husband, Patrick.
The couple tied the knot in 2012 and have two sons together.
