Things got chippy midway through the fourth quarter of Thursday night’s game between the Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns. After a three-pointer by Devin Booker to extend Phoenix’s lead to 93–84 with 6:41 remaining, the 27-year-old guard and Houston rookie Cam Whitmore exchanged words coming back down the floor.
Almost immediately after the two began talking, they were chest-to-chest and had to be separated after Whitmore appeared to take a swing at Booker.
Here’s another angle of the incident, which appears to show the two going back and forth, with Booker pushing Whitmore aside. But the Rockets rookie seemingly took issue with that, which escalated the situation quickly.
After things cooled off, Booker was called for a foul while both players received technicals. Gerald Bourguet of PHNX Sports stated that this had “been brewing for a while” between Booker and Whitmore.
