Die Schweiz entwickelt sich zum Hotspot im Hanfbusiness

Die Schweiz könnte im Cannabis-Geschäft eine Vorreiterrolle spielen. Heimische Family Offices investieren in das Business – Manager werden im Hanfanbau aktiv.

Die Schweiz entwickelt sich zum Hotspot für Cannabis. Weniger weil hier viel Gras geraucht würde, sondern weil sich im Business einiges tut.

Räumlich und gedanklich weit weg von jeder Kifferhöhle trifft sich das Who’s who der europäischen Cannabis-Industrie am 31. August und am 1. September im Zürcher «Dolder Grand» zum Global Investment Forum, veranstaltet von der International Cannabis Business Conference.

Keine zwei Wochen später findet in Oerlikon die B2B-Messe «Cannabis Business Expo» statt. «Im Cannabis-Bereich läuft sehr viel.

 

Die Schweiz ist in einer einzigartigen Position und kann nicht nur in Europa, sondern weltweit eine Vorreiterrolle spielen», sagt Daniel Haymann. Er leitet bei Meyerlustenberger Lachenal Froriep die 2019 gegründete erste Cannabis-Abteilung einer grossen Schweizer Kanzlei.

Die Vorteile der Schweiz seien für das Cannabis-Business vielfältig. So gebe es aufgrund der enormen Dichte von Investoren einfachen Zugang zu viel Kapital. Auch habe die Schweiz im Vergleich zur EU «gewisse regulatorische Vorteile».

So fällt THC erst ab einer Konzentration von einem Prozent unter das Betäubungsmittelgesetz. In der EU liegt der Grenzwert bei 0,2 Prozent, in den USA bei 0,3 Prozent.

«Die Schweiz hat bei Cannabis eine lange Tradition», sagt Haymann. Es gebe weniger Vorurteile, der Umgang sei entspannter. Nach und nach werde man sich des Potenzials der über 140 Cannabinoide, der Terpene und Flavonoide, die in der Pflanze stecken, bewusst. Zwei Arzneimittel sind heute zugelassen, dazu Konsumgüter wie Blüten als Tabakersatz oder Duftöle.

In den USA ist Cannabis längst ein Riesengeschäft. Auch Schweizer Investoren wittern ihre Chance. Obwohl der Zugang zum Markt noch erschwert ist und es Unsicherheiten gibt, was erlaubt ist, wächst das Interesse massiv. «Die Investoren sind keine Kiffer, sondern gestandene Manager und Verwaltungsräte von börsenkotierten Unternehmen», sagt Haymann.

Sie fungierten nicht nur als Geldgeber, sondern würden selbst operativ aktiv, gründeten Firmen, die sich mit dem Anbau bis zur Produktion von Hanfprodukten beschäftigen. Auch Venture Capital Funds und Family Offices stecken laut Haymann Teile ihres Vermögens in Cannabis-Projekte. Einer der Investoren ist Daniel Gutenberg.

Seit über zehn Jahren investiert er in Life Sciences – Teil davon ist die 2019 gegründete, auf medizinisches Cannabis spezialisierte MediCane.

Will die Schweiz den Vorsprung halten, gilt es, einige Hürden zu überwinden. Eine davon ist laut Haymann die kantonal stark unterschiedliche Handhabung von Cannabis-Produkten im Vollzug. Dies wäre leicht zu ändern, blockiert aber aufgrund fehlender Planungs- und Rechtssicherheit für die Anbieter die Entwicklung der Branche.
