Raquel Lee Bolleau alleges Amanda Bynes repeatedly spat on her on set

  • Former child actress Raquel Lee Bolleau, 37, shared her own on-set horrors
  • She alleged Amanda Bynes once spat on her face repeatedly during a skit
  • The allegations were made in the fifth episode of the Quiet On Set docuseries

Former Nickelodeon star Raquel Lee Bolleau has shared her own experience of alleged abuse in a new episode of Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kid’s TV; claiming Amanda Bynes once spat in her face multiple times.

Raquel, 37, who starred in the first season of the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series The Amanda Show –  which starred Amanda Bynes – shared her story when she sat down for an interview on the newest episode of Investigation Discovery’s docuseries.

The docuseries has featured multiple Nickelodeon alums who alleged a ‘toxic environment’ during Dan Schneider’s reign at the network late 1990s and early 2000s.

Raquel, who is now the voice of Nubia Gross in The Proud Family, focused in particular about a skit called The Literals, which involved Amanda repeatedly spitting her drink on Raquel.

According to Raquel’s recollection, Amanda repeatedly sat in her face while filming the skit, even when nobody told her to do so.

‘Everybody thought it was so funny. Everybody’s laughing, but I did not find it funny,’ she recalled during the final bonus episode of Quiet On Set. ‘The third time, I was infuriated.’

The actress added that the director tried to calm her down, recalling being ‘so mad.’

‘The director hurried and put me on the side of the set and was like, “Listen, Raquel. Breathe in. Breathe out. She’s the star of the show,”‘ she continued.

Raquel opened up further about her on-set experience in an Instagram post shared three weeks ago, writing that for as long as she can remember, she wanted to be an actress and knew The Amanda Show would change her life – and did not in a different way from what she thought.

”Born and raised in LA, casting directors and talent scouts used to stop my mom in the mall and ask if she had me in television,’ Raquel wrote, alongside several images of her and the cast of The Amanda Show.

She continued: ‘I knew pretty early on that’s what I was meant to be. I worked so hard as a kid, leaving school early for auditions, driving hours in traffic to and from acting classes, and then finally I got my big break. The opportunity that was going to change my life forever, The Amanda Show on Nickelodeon.’

‘Little did I know that show would change my life, but not in the way I thought,’ the former child star admitted.

Raquel said she had been in ‘ deep pain the past few days watching the documentary, and knowing now what went on’ sickens’ her stomach

‘I had entered into a new season of my life that I wasn’t ready for. The daily struggles on set to find acceptance, being the token “black friend” always! doing your best but always feeling overlooked,’ she shared.

Raquel said she had been in ‘ deep pain the past few days watching the Quiet On Set documentary.

‘To know that I am not alone in some of the things I experienced as a child actor, but to also hear the types of environments I was in as a kid without even knowing, just sickens my stomach,’ she admitted. ‘I know that everything happens for

Raquel admitted she ‘struggled’ to be a part of this documentary because of the pain the industry as caused her, and was initially worried people would no longer want to work with her, but felt compelled to share her story.

”I realized, I’ve been fighting to be seen and heard for sooooo long in this industry. I’ve paid my dues, I’ve put in the work, and now I can be ok walking away with my head held high,’ she wrote. ‘What’s most important is that we all begin our healing, now that we have more clarity and truth.’

Many Nickelodeon fans have been left reeling by the allegations and claims made in Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz’s docuseries Quiet on Set – particularly those aired by former child actor Drake Bell, now 37, who accused his dialogue coach Brian Peck of subjecting him to ‘unspeakable’ sexual abuse as a young star.

He explained that his father had hired Brian, now 63, who was a dialogue coach at Nickelodeon and previously worked with Leonardo DiCaprio, to coach his young son after his career began to take off.

But immediately, he said the coach started integrating himself into his life beyond just helping him on set – attending the then-aspiring singer’s concerts and hosting his birthday parties.

While at first Drake just thought Brian was ‘his friend,’ he said ‘everything changed’ one day during a casting trip.

The former Drake & Josh star, now 37, has now spoken out again in the latest installment of the docuseries – titled Breaking The Silence – to unravel yet more shocking claims

Peck was arrested and charged with nearly a dozen counts related allegations that he had sexually abused a then-unnamed minor in August 2003

Drake, who was 15 years old at the time, explained that he was sleeping on a couch when he suddenly awoke to Brian ‘sexually assaulting him.’

‘I froze and was in complete shock and had no idea what to do or how to react,’ he recalled in the doc.

‘I had no idea how to get out of this situation. What am I going to do, call my mom and be like, “Hey, this just happened can you come pick me up? I’ll just sit here and wait…” It just became this secret that I had held onto.’

He said that Brian was overly apologetic but the abuse did not stop there. Instead, Drake said it ‘just got worse, and worse, and worse, and worse.’

‘I was just trapped and I had no way out,’ shared the former Drake & Josh star. ‘The abuse was extensive and it got pretty brutal.

‘I really don’t know how to elaborate about that on camera. Think of the worst stuff that someone can do to somebody as a sexual assault and that will answer your question. I don’t know how else to put it.’

Peck was arrested and charged with nearly a dozen counts related allegations that he had sexually abused a then-unnamed minor in August 2003.

The docuseries also included several allegations of sexism and creating a toxic environment against The Amanda Show and Drake & Josh creator Dan Schneider

The docuseries shed light on the toxic and dangerous culture on the sets of the 58-year-old television producer’s children’s programs in the late 1990s and early 2000s; he is seen with Ariana Grande

He subsequently pleaded no contest to performing a lewd act with a 14- or 15-year-old and to oral copulation with a minor under 16. Bells’ wife of four years – Janet Von Schmeling – filed for divorce from him on April 20, and she appears to have primary custody of their toddler son Jeremy Drake Bell.

Bell had previously said that he was disappointed at seeing so many notable names show up to the courthouse in support of Peck during sentencing – including actors Will Friedle, 47, and Rider Strong, 44 – in addition to a total of 41 others who penned letters to the judge on the abuser’s behalf.

The docuseries, which aired its final episode on Sunday, April 6, promised to ‘pull back the curtain on an empire, built by creator Dan Schneider, which had an ‘undeniable grip on popular culture’ in the 1990s and early 2000s.

The biggest bombshells to come from the Investigation Discovery series included allegations that Schneider had ‘degraded’ staff before being sued over accusations of gender discrimination, hostile work environment and harassment.

His reputation was also marred with claims that he wrote ‘uncomfortable sketches’ that ‘sexualized’ child actors – including Ariana Grande – something that he has since denied in an apology interview issued since the documentary’s release.

Elsewhere, viewers were stunned to learn that there were three Nickelodeon employees who were child sex offenders – including Peck – who was sentenced to prison after committing sex acts with a male minor.
