Dewan Negara president back in Malaysia after falling ill in Azerbaijan

PETALING JAYA: Dewan Negara president Mutang Tagal is receiving treatment at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur after cutting short a working visit to Azerbaijan due to illness.
He arrived at 1am today after travelling to Azerbaijan to lead the Malaysian delegation at the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue from May 1 to 3 in Baku.
In a statement issued by his office, Mutang thanked everyone who had helped with his treatment in Azerbaijan and arranged for his travel back to Malaysia.
“He also records his gratitude for the public’s thoughts and prayers, and appreciates the time and space given to him and his family during this treatment period,” the statement said.
Before attending the forum, Mutang also visited Azerbaijan’s president Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s prime minister Ali Asadov, and speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova.
