Irishman makes tea in air fryer and the result is surprising

Many Irish households have invested in an air fryer in recent years in a bid to eat healthier and cut costs.

Designed for cooking crispy and healthy food, these versatile appliances have sparked a culinary revolution as people discover new and unexpected uses.

One daring individual went viral online last week, by taking the air fryer trend to a whole new level – attempting to make tea in a device predominantly associated with cooking, rather than brewing.

Posting on the popular Air Fryer Trending Recipes Facebook group, they shared their results, writing: “I’ve just made a cup of tea in my air fryer…30 mins to boil the water at 200c..add t bag and milk(sugar optional)..further 2 mins at 180c. Came out nice and golden and so moist..delish.”

The post quickly racked up tens of thousands of likes and comments, with many people expressing their shock and asking ‘Why didn’t you just use your kettle?’, while others believed it to be a joke.

One Irish TikToker, who is known for his reviews of food, was so outraged he attempted the feat himself – and the result is surprising.

Garron Noone, who goes by @garron_music online, shared his attempt with his followers, with the caption: “When will tea catch a break?”

Not one bit pleased with the viral trend, he told viewers: “It is with great sadness I must report another crime against tea. Somebody has tried to make tea in their air fryer like some sort of an American or something. I’m going to try and put this right and give tea the respect it deserves.”

He humourously videoed his method, emphasising the absurdity of using an air fryer for tea. Garron continued: “Okay, so step one is you have to fry your water until it’s hot. I’m going to use the max crisp setting.

“Okay, so the water is hot now. That took about 40 minutes, I nearly lost the will to live. Now we throw in the tea bag for another couple of minutes. Do not put the tea bag in the entire time or it might explode. To be honest with you, you might be better off than having to drink this s**te. Right, there it is, it took about 50 minutes.

“To make this tea even more disgusting and evil, I’m going to add a little bit of oat milk.”

It turns out that he had only one purpose for the experiment – to take matters into his own hands and attempt to rectify what he saw as a “crime against tea” and “banish it” from Ireland.

Garron said: “For my own safety, I’m not going to drink this. I just want to banish it from Ireland. I’m going to use my Knock holy water.”

With the bottle of holy water in his hand, he splashed it, saying: “Get out of Ireland. You filth. You evil. I banish you from our shores! Stay safe from evil cups of tea everyone.”

It should be noted that air fryers were not built for boiling. The appliances work by circulating hot air around food. Attempting to boil water in an air fryer can cause water droplets to fly as the fan inside the air fryer rotates. This could create a fire hazard if the water comes into touch with the electric parts of the gadget.
