Des troupes américaines visées en Irak

Des soldats américains ont été pris pour cible sur une base dans l’ouest de l’Irak lundi sans faire ni blessé ni dégâts, a affirmé mardi un responsable militaire américain, la seconde attaque depuis début février.

Les forces des États-Unis ont été visées par de nombreuses attaques dans la région depuis le début de la guerre entre Israël et le Hamas début octobre, mais elles ont quasiment cessé début février.

“Une attaque a visé hier la base aérienne Al-Asad” sans faire ni blessés ni dégât, a fait savoir ce responsable américain sous couvert de l’anonymat, sans préciser le type d’attaque.

“Il s’agit de la seconde attaque contre les forces américaines depuis le 4 février”, a-t-il ajouté.

Une autre s’est déroulée dans le week-end, avec des frappes de roquettes tirées du nord de l’Irak contre une base en Syrie chargée de lutter contre les djihadistes du groupe État islamique.

Entre début octobre et début février, plus de 165 attaques avaient visé les forces des États-Unis en Irak et en Syrie, causant des blessures mais aucun décès parmi les soldats américains.

Une attaque de drone contre une base en Jordanie a cependant tué trois soldats américains fin janvier, conduisant le Pentagone à mener des frappes contre des positions liées à l’Iran dans la région. Les attaques visant les positions américaines ont ensuite stoppé.

La plupart de ces attaques ont été revendiquées par “La Résistance islamique en Irak”, nébuleuse de combattants pro-Iran dont les meneurs sont les Brigades du Hezbollah.
