DepEd cautions public vs fake posts on cash aid
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) has warned the public against fake posts claiming that the agency gives out cash assistance to all graduating students.
In a statement, the DepEd said that parents and students should not give personal data and school documents to fraudulent individuals.
The posts in question carry the DepEd logo and a cutout of Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte, saying applicants can receive P8,000 cash assistance to graduating college, senior high, junior high and elementary school students.
Those behind the fake social media posts also require documents from the Philippine Statistics Authority and school records such as good moral certificates and report cards.
“The DepEd reminds everyone to stay vigilant against misinformation. For official announcements and information of the Department, please visit (our official social media platforms and website),” the agency said.
The DepEd and Office of the Vice President have been used in similar fraudulent schemes on social media in the past year.
The DepEd also urged the public to report misleading and suspicious information about basic education to [email protected].
