Deontay Wilder's KO of Bermane Stiverne branded one of the 'funniest and most brutal ever'

Deontay Wilder is one of the most explosive fighters today.

His three-fight series with the ‘Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury is up there with the best rivalries in history and the sheer power of Wilder’s punches is part of the reason for this.

The ‘Bronze Bomber’ even managed to knock the seemingly indestructible Fury down on numerous occasions.

He’s world renowned for his stunning power and ability to knock out any opponent. He’s competed in 45 professional bouts and of his 42 wins, 41 of them have been by knockout.

That leaves him with an insane knockout-to-win percentage of 97.61%.

The signs of Wilder’s astonishing power were there from very early in his career and, as his career progressed, opponents feared his fierce right hand.

One of the most brutal and crazy knockouts we saw from Deontay came against Bermane Stiverne.

In November 2017, Wilder battled Stiverne with something bigger on his mind. He dreamed of a unification fight against Anthony Joshua and was motivated to prove his worth.

This was second fight between the two with Stiverne being significantly less durable than he was in their first encounter, which the ‘Bronze Bomber’ would look to exploit.

Wilder floored his opponent in the very first round, though, Stiverne was able to get up and insist he was okay to continue.

🥊 Wilder’s Round 1 KO vs Stiverne is both one of the funniest and brutal knockouts of all time 😂 The way Deontay stood there before the 2nd knockdown ☠️ #Boxing #Boxeo @BronzeBomber pic.twitter.com/lyIZH0eqQv

Confidence was flowing for Deontay who repeated his feat and knocked down his opponent immediately following the restart.

Somehow, Bermane still persevered and got up again. It looked as if he might survive the round but Wilder would not allow this to happen.

On the third knockdown, the referee waved the fight off. Adrenaline was still surging through the victor, who desperately finished the fight with such little time on the clock, which led him to do something insane.

The ref attempted to pull Wilder away from his defeated opponent but found himself lifted off his feet.

Deontay was pumped up and accidentally ragdolled the unsuspecting official in his moment of pure thrill.

He would later tell CBS Sports that he felt ‘possessed’ that night and that his ‘Bronze Bomber’ alias had taken over him for the night.
