Local restaurant closing after 90 years
SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) – A local restaurant is closing after 90 years in business.
DeRienzo’s on S. Broadway Avenue in Salem announced on its Facebook page on Thursday that Sunday would be its last day in business. Doors will be closing for the last time at 7 p.m., according to the post.
The business released the following statement:
“We are truly honored to have been able to remain such a staple in the community for so long. As a 4th generation family member, Jim and I have seen many family members come and go throughout the years. As time went on, family members would grow up and thus bring in their children to keep the tradition going.
We truly appreciate everyone’s patronage and loyalty throughout the years, but we felt at our age this was our time to retire. So once again, we truly thank you for the many years we have been able to serve the community. We will miss seeing all the familiar faces.
Also, a big thank you to our fantastic staff who has been with us for many years. We couldn’t have done it without you, or asked for a better crew. You guys are the best around. Once again, Thank you!!”
Jim and Karen Augusta
DeRienzo’s has been in business since 1933 and specializes in both Italian and American food.
