New University of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has made claims of star cornerback Travis Hunter being offered a significant sum to play elsewhere.
The former NFL CB famously pipped Hunter from Florida State, pulling off what was arguably the biggest flip in college football history. But Hunter only played a single season for JSU as Sanders would leave for Boulder late last year, taking a number of players with him, including his son Shedeur Sanders. His other son Shilo recently committed to Colorado as well.
Travis Hunter Wasted Very Little Time Committing To Colorado
Once Hunter entered the transfer portal, it was always thought that he would end up in Colorado. The youngster even had a bit of fun with fans but announced he was following his coach after two days.
According to Sanders, Travis was offered around $1.5 million to change his mind.
“People offered Hunter a bag,” Prime said to 247Sports. “About $1.5 million to try to lure him and buy him out of the transfer portal. But Travis is not the kind of guy that can be bought. He isn’t built like that. Travis is a relational young man that is built on relationships and stability. And that’s what he wanted and desired. That is why he decided to ride and stay with us.”
The 20-year-old is expected to star on both sides of the ball for the Buffaloes next season, as he also plays as a wide receiver, though the program hasn’t been tipped for much success despite Deion’s arrival.
