The oath-taking took place at Malacanang with both the incoming and outgoing SBMA chief in attendance.
Tan described his stint at the freeport as “short but valuable.”
“I was given the chance to serve the agency. I’ll bring with me all the happy memories I had with you,” he said in a message to SBMA employees on Friday.
Tan, a former mayor of Pandan town in Antique province, did not state the reason for stepping down after he was appointed to the post by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in April last year.
Also on Friday, Tan was appointed as undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
