Australian consumers are finally getting access to Kim Kardashian’s personal shapewear line.
The reality star’s uber popular undergarments brand SKIMS, that currently boasts Kate Moss as its face, will be hitting the racks at David Jones — and the retail giant is expecting such an influx that they have already launched a waiting list.
“As a brand that supports and celebrates size inclusivity and body positivity, we are absolutely thrilled to be the exclusive bricks and mortar retailer in Australia to stock SKIMS,” Bridget Veals, general manager of womenswear and accessories for David Jones, said.
SKIMS has amassed a cult following since first launching in 2019 — partly in thanks to Kardashian being one of the most famous faces in the world, and partly because the brand is lauded for providing womxn everywhere with support, comfort and sculpting.
But Australian shoppers have previously been forced to fight it out with a global customer base on the brand’s US website, hoping to nab a set before the latest collection sells out, while also weathering the international shipping fee.
But now the company — that the New York Times reported as being valued at around AUD $2.1 billion in June — has a retail home in Australia for the first time.
“I’m so excited to see SKIMS launch in Australia and can’t wait for everyone to experience the brand in real life,” Kardashian said in a statement.
“The quality, fit and feel of our collections are so important and I’m thrilled customers will now be able to experience that first hand.”
The brand — that markets underwear that stretches to twice its size — was recently afforded further legitimacy when the TV star confirmed they would be designing the official undergarments for the female members of the US Olympics team for the 2021 Tokyo Games.Internet Explorer Channel Network
