I-270 at Route 315 at 6:55 a.m. Saturday as a winter weather advisory remains in effect until noon.
A winter weather advisory has been issued for Central Ohio with an additional 1 to 2 inches of snow possible on top of overnight snowfall, the National Weather Service said at 5:10 a.m. Saturday.
Forecasters originally said Central Ohio would get 1 to 2 inches of wet snow late Friday into early Saturday morning. The advisory ends at noon Saturday.
Friday’s high hit 53 degrees before the storm approached. As of 6:30 a.m. Saturday, snow was visible on Columbus-area freeways.
The NWS said most of the snow will accumulate on elevated surfaces, and slick spots may develop on grassy areas, overpasses, decks, and bridges as the overnight low temperature dips into the 20s.
Motorists should also expect reduced visibility due to the snow, according to Christopher Hogue, a meteorologist with the NWS Wilmington office.
While Saturday will be a chilly day, you can expect sunny weather on Sunday, with a high of 51 degrees and winds between 10 and 15 miles per hour.
