Pakistan: Nawaz Sharif supporters bring lion, tiger to Lahore rally

NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident in Pakistan, supporters of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) brought a lion and a tiger to the Lahore rally led by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, according to The News International.

The animals, symbolizing the party’s emblem, were displayed at the camps set up in the National Assembly (NA)-130 constituency, where thousands gathered to welcome Sharif.

PML-N supporters eagerly took selfies with the lion and tiger, which were kept in secure iron cages. This is not the first time that wild animals have been showcased at PML-N public gatherings.

However, PML-N leader Marriyum Aurangzeb clarified that upon Nawaz Sharif’s instructions, a “real lion, brought by one of its supporters for the PML-N rally, has been returned.” “Nawaz Sharif has instructed that no real lion or any other animal should be brought to any rally in Pakistan,” she said in a tweet.

During the rally, Nawaz Sharif addressed the public in NA-130, where he will be contesting the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8. The event was attended by PML-N Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz as well. The rally commenced from Mohini Road and passed through various locations, including Ameer Roor Malik Park, Kale Di Puli, Saradar Chapel Chowk, Moola Bakhsh Chowk, Ibrahim Road, Santnagar, and Isalampura.
