Dangerous heat index in Cagayan, Metro Manila
MANILA, Philippines: Many areas in the country will again have dangerous heat levels today with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) predicting a 47 degrees Celsius heat index in Cagayan.
The air temperature in Tuguegarao City will reach a high of 39 degrees Celsius, Pagasa said Sunday.
Dangerous heat index in Cagayan, Metro Manila
Weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the National Capital Region including Metro Manila will likely bake at 45 degrees Celsius.
Other provinces will have a heat index ranging from 40 degrees Celsius to 46 degrees Celsius.
Heat index is what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air temperature.
“Once again, we are reminding the public to limit the time spent outdoors especially from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to avoid the scorching heat of the sun and drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration,” Castañeda said.
Meanwhile, the easterlies — winds coming from the east that pass through the Pacific Ocean and carry humid and warm weather — will bring partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in some parts of the country, the weather bureau said.
