Dame Helen Mirren is supporting JustEat’s Christmas Meal Appeal.
Partnered with charities Food Cycle and Social, they are urging the nation to support the homeless, lonely and vulnerable this Christmas.
You can support the campaign by simply donating when you order a takeaway on Just Eat across London.
They are aiming to fund at least 200,000 meals to feed those in need during the festive season.
The Christmas Meal Appeal returns this year after new research finds that over half (51 per cent) of UK adults say that since the pandemic they want to do more to help others.
Dame Helen Mirren has launched the campaign, urging Brits to support and help those in need.
The Harry Potter actress says: “For many in the UK, this winter will be a time of hunger and loneliness.
“So, if you can, please donate when you order your takeaway. It’ll make a world of difference to those who need it most.”
When you order through Just Eat, you will have the opportunity to donate £3, £5 or £10.
The takeaway company will then match all donations pound for pound, doubling your contribution to The Christmas Meal Appeal.
Just Eat will be drawing on its employees, restaurant partners and delivery couriers to volunteer, fund-raise, and deliver free meals and Christmas essentials to those who need them.
The funds raised by the public and the food delivery app will be donated to Social Bite and Food Cycle. Dame Helen Mirren is an ambassador for Social Bite who aim to end homelessness and Food Cycle provide community meals that are made from food that would have otherwise gone to waste.
Just Eat has also created a Christmas Meal Directory which outlines safe spaces offering free hot meals for the homeless, lonely and vulnerable over the festive period- many of which are in London.
Will you donate some spare cash to help the homeless when you order food from Just Eat?
