Philippines urges non-escalation of situation in Middle East

The Philippine government called for a non-escalation of the situation in the Middle East, as it expressed “deep concern” over the increasing tension in the region.

The Philippines’ appeal, conveyed through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), came after the Portuguese container ship MSC Aries, reportedly linked to Israel, was seized by Iranian forces on April 13.

Piston, Manibela’s strike has not disrupted public transport – MMDA

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said it has yet to monitor any public transport disruption following the strike initiated by transport groups on Monday.

In a press conference, MMDA said none of its 400 vehicles on standby have yet to be deployed.

During a Sunday evening rally in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, Duterte again aired his opposition to the government’s ongoing push for a Charter change (Cha-cha).

Oil firms hike diesel price by 95¢ per liter, gasoline by 40¢

Local oil companies will implement another round of fuel price increases effective Tuesday, April 16.

In separate advisories, the companies said the pump price per liter of gasoline would climb by P0.40 and diesel by P0.95  per liter on Tuesday, April 16. The price of kerosene will likewise rise by P0.85 per liter.
