AAA seeing high call volume in Eastern Iowa during continued snowy, cold conditions
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Roads in Eastern Iowa are still covered in snow and feels-like temperatures are 20 to 30 degrees below zero. For AAA, that means keeping busy while also trying to stay safe.
There has been “a consistent call volume for our roadside service technicians,” said Brian Ortner with AAA. “And it’s been a variety of calls… just sliding off, needing to get pulled back onto the road, there’s been some battery issues and those sorts of things.”
Ortner added, “Our teams are busy. Definitely they’re out running nonstop.”
Outside of AAA calls, the Iowa State Patrol has responded to 137 crashes from Friday morning to 9:30 a.m. Sunday. None of them were fatal, but 18 of them did include injuries and 119 included property damage.
