Christian community has been at forefront in serving poor and deprived: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday commended the Christian community for being at the forefront of serving the poor and deprived. During an interaction with the members of the Christian community at his residence, Modi expressed his appreciation towards their significant contribution to the nation and said that India “proudly acknowledges” their effort.
“The Christian community has been at the forefront in serving the poor and deprived,” PM Modi said as he addressed the gathering on the occasion of Christmas. “India proudly acknowledges your contribution to the country. The government is committed to ensuring that development reaches everyone, and Christians, especially the poor and deprived, are also benefiting from it,” he added.
Recalling his enduring ties with the community during his chief ministerial days, the Prime Minister said, “I have had old, intimate, and warm relations with Christians. When I was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, I regularly met with leaders of the Christian community.”
PM Modi also shared insights into a meeting he had with the Holy Popea few years ago, calling it a memorable moment. “To make the world a better place, we discussed issues like social harmony, global brotherhood, climate change, and inclusive development,” he said.
The Prime Minister extended his Christmas greetings to the people of the world and the Christian community, expressing joy that they had gathered at his residence on this special day. He emphasised the importance of the Christmas spirit in fostering unity and goodwill among communities.
During the event, PM Modi underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring that development reaches every corner of the nation, benefiting all sections of society.
