CSI Franchise to Continue on CBS Despite Vegas Getting Canceled
CSI: Vegas won’t be returning for a fourth season, as CBS has officially canceled the series after a three-season run. While that would seem to be the end of CSI on the network, it’s been teased that the franchise will be back on the air soon.
Per Deadline, CBS boss Amy Reisenbach addressed the cancelation of CSI: Vegas. She commented on how this had been a very difficult television season to make such tough decisions with, given the “embarrassment of riches” with so many quality television shows. The axe ultimately had to fall somewhere, taking out CSI: Vegas and other shows like NCIS: Hawai’i and So Help Me Todd. This was not due to a lack of quality, but the limited spots available.

The Divergent series never got to experience its conclusion, but why did the franchise get halted before its final movie’s release?
“We had some tough choices this year,” Reisenbach said. “Everything came back very strong. There is a cohesive schedule, a flow.”
CBS CEO George Cheeks added, “Every show is different. We certainly had a wonderful experience with So Help Me Todd. It was heartbreaking.”
CSI Will Return According to CBS Boss
It was confirmed that none of these canceled shows are planned to move to Paramount+, which has limitations of its own. However, Reisenbach promised that the CSI franchise was not finished, even if CSI: Vegas was ending. She said that the franchise was still not just “alive,” but suggested that there are active talks about where to go next with the brand. Reisenbach didn’t divulge a possible setting or characters, but the comments could be seen as assurance that CSI will be back on television in one way or another soon enough.
