John Fogerty, one of the greatest songwriters, guitarists and singers in the history of classic rock, will return to Australia this March to play just one show.

The Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman has this morning confirmed he will be making his way back down under for the first time in 12 years to headline Country Fest QLD, which will take place in the town of Bloomsbury near Mackay this Easter.

It’s a mammoth coup for the event, which will also host some of the biggest names in Australian country music in Morgan Evans, Lee Kernaghan, and James Johnston.

Fogerty’s last visit was as one of the headliner of the Byron Bay Bluesfest, where he proved that his voice is still as brilliantly gritty as ever and his guitar playing is even better than you might expect.

His list of hit songs is honestly outrageous, especially when you consider that his band was only together for a little over four years.

‘Proud Mary’, ‘Fortunate Son’, ‘Bad Moon Rising’,  ‘Green River’ ‘Born on the Bayou’, ‘Have You Ever Seen the Rain’, ‘Down On The Corner’, ‘Long As I Can See The Light’, ‘Lodi’… and then there’s the solo hits like ‘The Old Man Down The Road’, ‘Centerfield’ and ‘Rock and Roll Girls’.

If that’s not enough to convince you of his greatness, consider the fact that his 2013 album Wrote A Song For Everyone featured guest appearances from the likes of Foo Fighters, Keith Urban, Tom Morello, Zac Brown Band, Bob Seger, Alan Jackson and more. That’s some serious credibility.

John Fogerty is a singular force in rock’n’roll and the opportunity to see the 78-year-old tear through a two-hour set is something to cherish.
