Oklahoma City Thunder snap two-game losing streak with commanding win over Sacramento Kings
NEW DELHI: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams spearheaded a dominant performance by the Oklahoma City Thunder as they secured a commanding 127-113 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday.
Gilgeous-Alexander showcased his scoring prowess with an impressive 38-point outing, while Williams contributed 32 points to propel the Thunder to victory. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Oklahoma City, emphasizing their resilience as one of the few NBA teams yet to suffer a three-game skid this season.
Supporting Gilgeous-Alexander and Williams, Luguentz Dort provided a solid all-around performance with 17 points, nine rebounds, and three steals, while Chet Holmgren chipped in with 14 points and four blocks.
Off the bench, Malik Monk led the scoring effort for the Kings with 26 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Thunder’s dominant display.
Oklahoma City took control of the game early, breaking a tie with a decisive 12-0 run in the second quarter to establish a 67-57 halftime lead. Although Sacramento attempted to mount a comeback, trimming the deficit to six early in the third quarter, the Thunder responded with authority.
A blistering 19-1 run propelled Oklahoma City to a commanding 24-point lead, with Gilgeous-Alexander leading the charge with five points, two assists, and a block during the decisive stretch. The Kings struggled to find their rhythm, enduring a scoring drought as the Thunder surged ahead.
Despite Sacramento’s efforts to narrow the deficit, Oklahoma City maintained control, with Gilgeous-Alexander and Williams delivering clutch plays down the stretch to seal the victory. Williams’ stellar performance, highlighted by efficient shooting and solid contributions across multiple categories, underscored his importance to the Thunder’s success.
Oklahoma City’s offensive efficiency was on full display as they shot an impressive 54.1 percent from the field, showcasing their scoring prowess against the Kings.
On the Kings’ side, Domantas Sabonis recorded his NBA-leading 17th triple-double with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 14 assists. Despite Sabonis’ individual brilliance, Sacramento couldn’t overcome Oklahoma City’s relentless attack.
The victory reaffirmed the Thunder’s competitiveness in the NBA landscape, demonstrating their ability to bounce back from adversity and deliver standout performances on both ends of the floor.
